Few days back was 2nd CZ VMUG.

Agenda:

agenda
Katarina Wagnerova [@_KatkaW_] presenting her way to VDM (Virtual Design Master). This was an awesome presentation. Really breath taking. Where she found all the time to do it in such a short time.

Paudie ORiordan [@oriorp] was doing live scripted demo of 2node vSAN. Amazing presentation from the VMware guy. Who know a lot about VSAN.

Presentation of “Metro Cluster HA or DR“ was from Czech TAM’s David Pasek  (VCDX200) and Standa Jurena. A lot of information from the field. And they give us a lot of information from Metro Cluster HA and DR. At the end of the presentation you should know the main reasons for “what to choose” Metro Cluster HA or DR.

Veeam backup Agent for Linux update to BETA2 on CentOS 7

Now I want to update it with newer version “beta2” which was released recently. First of all download BETA2 files for your Linux distribution. In my case RPM files for RedHat/Centos 7 from Veeam site.

First of all you need to uninstall “beta1” to be able to install “beta2” properly.

new NUC in my home lab

Home LAB starts to grow. More and more test lab VM’s, nested ESXi hosts etc. So  I was looking for another node. Dont want to spent a fortune so the price was the key. I had also other minimum requirements as 32GB of RAM and power consumption. After few weeks of searching I decide to buy a Intel NUC.

Components added to my #HOMELAB:

  • Intel 6th Generation NUC NUC6i3SYH
  • 2x Kingston 16GB DDR4 2133MHz SODIMM
  • USB3 TP-LINK  UE300 gigabit NIC
  • 8GB San Disk Cruzer Fit
  • HDMI to VGA adapter

Disclaimer: The Intel NUC is not on VMware’s official Hardware Compatibility List (HCL)

Veeam backup Agent for Linux (beta) CentOS 7

today just received an email from Veaam with link and code. So I can download the beta agent for linux.  In my case I will use CentOS 7  linux distribution 64bit.

Installation is easy, with some tricky part. As on installation page here is step-by-step  info about how to install the Veeam Linux agent. But I am missing step-by-step info about how to install prerequisites. So you can read it here for CentOS 7 Linux.

First of all update your server. Once done,  reboot the server if during your update was installed new kernel.
